D38 AUTHORITY - Lightyears [Cosmic Rhythm, 2018]
D38 Authority’s “Lightyears” is one of my favourite tracks from the entire Cosmic Rhythm catalogue. It’s something that came out last winter in a pretty grey day in Bari (and when you live nearby the Adriatic Sea, these kind of days are a sort of damnation). I still remember being in my studio with my pal Rhythm Of Paradise while working on some classic Italian house inspired tunes, and then we found ourself illuminated from that grey sky, which took instantly our minds to the MotorCity and… the rest is history: in just one day, we had the whole D38 Authority EP. So, not properly a damnation!
COSMIC GARDEN - Pleasure Moment [Clone Royal Oak, 2018]
Don’t take me as cocky for choosing my own stuff, but this one is something I’m really attached to. It’s simply a reflection of my best happy memories of when I was a child. And this is enough!
DON CARLOS - Mediterraneo [Calypso Records, 1992]
This comes straight from one of my favorite artists ever, and I don’t need to look too far, because he’s Italian and he’s part of the crew of Italians that have made Italo house one of the most appreciated things in the world. I was very young when this stuff came out and I remember always feeling in love with those twisting pads with jazz and ambient infusions.
SONZEIRA - Southern Freeez [Talkin’ Loud, 2014]
Never been too in love with the original one by Freez, but I remember when I first listened to this one in Ron Trent’s mix for Gilles Petterson’s Worldwide FM - instant love! I always listen this one in my free time or when I need to chill out and collect my thought to focus myself on the next steps.
LOSS OF GRAVITY - Deeparture [Cosmic Rhythm, 2018]
Yet another joint with my man Michael aka Rhythm Of Paradise. This is one of our projects, but this one is dedicated to more introspective shit. When it was conceived, we were talking about the past and looking back on some good memories. It sounded like a good soundtrack for those feelings, and we simply needed to put it out. This is the result!
LARRY HEARD aka LOOSEFINGERS - Deep Inside [Alleviated Records, 2003]
I mean, I don’t wanna seem apple pie and motherhood, but how much of a masterpiece is this one?! I would keep this one on loop for the rest of my life, till the end of the days… Don’t think Larry Heard needs too much introduction - he is the one who made deep house a spiritual and soulful thing in its total purity, and gave us a clear message - life is love.
EX-TERRESTRIAL - Portal Vision (Kali) [Naff Recordings, 2018]
Well, this one has been a great discovery. I remember when this came out some months ago and my mate Marco approached me to this new label: I felt like an instant and strong connection with those that are our roots, the thing we like the most and the things we do. It has been like to discover a brother you didn’t know to have somewhere in the world. Hands up for these talented guys!
SOFT HOUSE COMPANY - What You Need... [Irma CasaDiPrimrdine, 1990]
For me, it has always been a long love story with Irma Recordings. Whatever they’ve done - house, acid jazz, chill out, bossa nova… Everything is so perfect and emotive! I still remember when I discovered this EP in my dad’s cousin’s collection. I got goose bumps and from then on I haven’t been able to forget those vibes and have always wanted to know more. I started going to the vinyl shops looking for Kekko Montefiori’s music and I then discovered the Key Tronics Ensemble project and also Claudio Rispoli’s project, Moz-Art. Those are my roots and here I am.
