68000 - See You In My Eyes [Silent, 1993]
68000 a.k.a. Violet Arcana is a duo of electronic music producers from the early 90’s. I often play some of the more « clubby » tracks from them. This one is slower - dubby indie style.
CHRIS & COSEY - Retrodect [Wax Trax! Records, 1991]
Only available from their beautiful Synaesthesia single release. Fascinating production, as always.
GENE F. STEIKER & LARRY S. CHENGGES - In Green Pastures [Shanyn-Alexus Record Company, 1973]
Poetry, pianos and guitars. With echoes and background noises that make it sound like it was recorded with only one microphone in an empty, isolated house. Very emotional and unique. I regularly come back to this record.
HALFLINGS OF MINAS TRUTH - The Franklin's Maid [Welhaven Records, 1967]
Those who have listened to the Sky Girl compilation that I did with Julien Dechery might be able to guess that I have a soft spot for dreamy folk records. A recent find by the usual suspects/sellers « overseas ».
AFRICAN BROS. INTERNATIONAL - Kyerema Way [Jibros Records, 1981]
A friend of mine introduced me to some very nice deep and melancolic highlife records, among them I fell in love with this one from this essential Ghanaian band.
MICHAEL VINCENT WALLER - Visages - II. Year of the Ram [Recital, 2017]
I’ve been listening to this (almost) piano record quite a lot recently. It’s from an American contemporary classical composer who has studied with La Monte Young, among others.
