Here's a YouTube playlist of these songs for continuous listening
TONE SET - He’s Got a Little Dog [Zia Records, 1982]
If you have a small dog that needs a bath, this song is for you. The vocals sound small and helpless, like your tiny dog that can do nothing to prevent its inevitable, sanitary fate.
MILLSART – Every Dog Has Its Day Vol. 4 (Untitled A1) [Axis, 2003]
This is your dog’s day, bath-wise. The chords sound confused and sad, like your small canine in need of a good shampoo.
SKINNY PUPPY – Sleeping Beast [Self-Released, 1984]
The inspiration for this band’s name came from founder Kevin Key’s first experience bathing his one month old Yorkshire Terrier and realizing that the dog was even smaller than it had originally looked. These guys totally get it.
DISCIPLES OF GAIA – The Key (Lunar Dub) [Zazaboem, 1991]
The initials for Disciples of Gaia spell DOG, and the sad chord stabs evoke a melancholy feeling that can only really be understood by a small dog getting bathed against its will by its cruel, heartless owner whom it loves.
O YUKI CONJUGATE – Rain Dance [Final Image, 1987]
This album is titled Undercurrents (In Dark Water), so if your small dog gets as dirty as my 8 year old Maltese Terrier, Jackson, then you’ll totally get why I included this song in the list. Gross.
PALMER DOG – Don’t Smoke the Seed [Jedi, 1984]
In a study conducted by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in partnership with the University of Glasgow, researchers found that dogs absolutely love reggae. This song is by Palmer Dog, which makes it even more likely that your pooch will calm down slightly if you play it during its terrifying, traumatic bath.
DZ LECTRIC – A Very Dirty IWBYD (I Wanna Be Your Dog) [Grafika Airlines, 1981]
This one is for the dogs out there, especially the small ones that need to be bathed.
DANCER – Am a Dog [Trax, 1987]
This one too.
